2 days after the earthquake, I met Nojie, who’s family house was severely damaged. Amidst the aftershocks, her family was taking shelter in a cousin’s pool hall, with 7 other families. “we know we are safe here,” she told me, “because if the roof comes down it will fall on the pool tables, and we will not be hurt.”
In Kaldhara, around the corner from Secret garden guesthouse, is the depot where the Cycle rickshaws are stored and fixed. Most Rickshaw drivers cannot afford to buy their own Cycles, and instead rent them from the owner here.
